The crisp spring weather here in Indianapolis has us thinking about fresh starts, especially when it comes to healthy living. While Eagle Highland Pharmacy is here for you when you aren’t functioning at 100 percent, we want to give you some tips for habits to keep you in good health.

Spring Health

1. Drink plenty of water.

You’ve probably heard how important it is to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Just how much water do you need? While many people think eight glasses a day is ideal, the actual amount of water is based on the individual—your gender, age, activity level, and so on. (This article from Mayo Clinic can help you determine how much water you need each day.)

2. Get active.

Exercise is good for the mind, body, and soul. Find ways to be active throughout the day. Even if you don’t have time to get to the gym, you can take a walk around the neighborhood, do a house project, or park farther away from the store in order to get some extra steps. However, remember to consult with your physician before starting any exercise program to make sure it’s what’s best for your body.

3. Wash your hands.

We know it’s easy to get busy and zip from place to place throughout the day. However, take time to wash your hands, especially after you’ve used the restroom or have been out in public. Hand washing helps prevent the spread of germs.

4. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables.

Whole, raw fruits and vegetables need to have a designated place on your plate every day. Many people say that the more colorful your plate, the better. Check out Choose My Plate to help you determine how many servings of fruit and vegetables is best for you.

5. Stay home when you’re ill.

If you’re under the weather with a contagious illness, do your best to stay home so you can get well and avoid spreading sickness further. Take any medicines as prescribed by your doctor, and get plenty of rest.

If you find yourself in need of a prescription or other medical supplies, remember that Eagle Highland Pharmacy is always here for you.
